Lexington, KY – August 5, 2025 – Due to the late sharing of an exciting new championship for young horses at the 142nd National Horse Show, we have decided to expand the qualification criteria to include 5-, 6-, or 7-year-old horses from the Young Hunter, Green Hunter 3′, or Green Hunter 3’3″ sections for this year.
Entries in the Young/Green Hunter Championship will be limited to 30 horses. Qualifying will be based on the following criteria: Horses will qualify from the Young Hunter, Green Hunter 3′, or Green Hunter 3’3″ sections based on the USEF National Horse of the Year points or money won at USEF licensed Channel I (Premier or National) rated competitions earned by horses from their best 15 shows starting on or after January 1, 2025, through shows starting on or before August 26, 2025.
Horses may not compete in any other class at the National Horse Show.
To be judged on movement, jumping style, manners, and way of going. To be shown over a course of approximately 10 jumps. Jump order to be arranged by height/age of horse. To be scored under the open numerical judging system. All competitors will jump the first and second rounds. The scores of the first and second round will be added together to determine the overall scores.
