ESP Florida State Fall Horse Show: A Weekend of Championship Rides and Landmark Performances

The ESP Florida State Fall Horse Show took place this weekend at the Equestrian Village in Wellington, Florida, offering an action-packed weekend of equestrian events and landmark performances. From Thursday to Sunday, the show highlighted numerous championship rides and featured the Region 10 ASPCA/NHSAA Maclay Championship, THIS/NHS Area Championship, and Hamel Foundation NHS 3’3″ Area Championship.

The Region 10 ASPCA/NHSAA Maclay Championship showcased riders navigating a technical over fences round followed by a flat phase. Gabriella and her own Quintago impressed the judges to receive champion. Reserve went to Isabelle Castellanos and her own Remington, while Katherine Mercer and Vigo Van Koningspolder Z, owned by Abigail Gordon, rounded out the podium.

Next came the THIS/NHS Adult Area Championship, testing riders first over fences and then on the flat. Xavier Gomez aboard I’m Black Beautiful, owned by Richard Vogel, secured champion. Kaitlyn Sheerahamed and her own Dany Villers took second honors. Securing the third-place title was Rachel Nussbaum and A La Minute Z, owned by Alexandra Robinson.

The Hamel Foundation/NHS 3’3” Area Championship rounded out the equitation championships, with Carsyn Karotkin and Indigo Van De Muggenhoek, owned Blue Gate Stables LLC, securing top honors. Makayla Frederick piloted Chaperone, owned by Jenna George, to second while Lilly Rae Buncher earned third aboard her own Be Like Me SH.

All three equitation classes were expertly judged by Mark Bone & Caitlin Venezia White and the courses were designed by Andy Christiansen (ECU).

Competition kicked off Thursday, September 18th, on the Derby Field with the 1.35m Open Stake sponsored by Perfect Products. Riders and their horses tackled the challenging course designed by Hector Loyola (PR), with only 5 combinations advancing to the jump-off. Lebanon’s Jad Dana claimed both first and second place, winning with C’Est Jens, owned by Donald Steward, in a swift 42.207 seconds, and following closely aboard Alles Goed, owned by Burr Associates, Inc., with a time of 43.387 seconds. Alejandro Karolyi (VEN) and Cool As Fly, owned by Beverly Gepfer, captured third with a clear-round time of 44.861 seconds.

On Friday, the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby (Hunt & Go), sponsored by Parlanti, served as the highlight of the day at the Annex Derby field. Katherine Newman (USA) & Everknown, owned by Pony Lane Farms, delivered an impressive performance, earning a combined score of 172 to secure the victory.

Continuing Friday’s competition, the Bainbridge Companies 1.40m Open Jumper Stake unfolded on the Derby Field, challenging riders with a course designed by Hector Loyola (PR). Kyle Roderick Dewar (CAN) gave the only double-clear ride aboard his own Huntin De L’Abbaye, securing the victory with a time of 39.689 seconds.

Friday’s events wrapped up with the 15-17 3’3” Equitation, presented by Alexander Academic Access, expertly judged by USEF ‘R’ judge, Caitlin White, with courses designed by Andy Christiansen (EC). Jaxon Hoshaw (USA) piloted Bollywood, owned by Leah Lang-Gluscic, to Champion of the division.

Saturday kicked off at a fast pace on the Derby Field, where the 1.30m Open Jumpers sponsored by Greenberg Traurig took place. Faced with Hector Loyola’s (PR) challenging course, Jad Dana (LEB) expertly piloted Caro W, owned by Peter Howard and Laurie Sudreau, to first place, stopping the clock at 48.899 seconds.

The $1,000 2’6”/2’9” Hunter Derby presented by ProElite showcased the top hunter talent in the Annex Derby Field. Audrey Haywood (USA) laid down an impressive round earning scores of 86 and 89 for a combined 175 with MTM Wheels Up, owned by Radequestrian LLC.

The weekend wrapped up with the $10,000 IDA Development Grand Prix, where 16 horse and rider combinations tackled Hector Loyola’s (PR) course.
