Royal Windsor Horse Show is delighted to announce that more than £6,000 has been raised in support of its 2026 Official Show Charity, Warrior Equine.
The impressive total was raised during this year’s Show and will directly support Warrior Equine’s equine-assisted mental well-being programme, helping the charity continue its work with members of the Armed Forces, Emergency Services, and veterans who are living with the effects of trauma. Delivered in partnership with local yards, riding schools, and military establishments across the UK, the programme uses ground-based work with horses to help participants rebuild confidence, develop emotional resilience, and regain trust in a calm and supportive environment.
Founded in 2019, Warrior Equine was established to support members of the Armed Forces, Emergency Services, and veterans experiencing the impact of psychological trauma, including post-traumatic stress, anxiety, burnout, social withdrawal, and loss of confidence. By working with horses from the ground, rather than through riding, the programme is accessible to people of all physical abilities and draws on horses’ natural sensitivity to human emotion and behaviour to support recovery in a practical and deeply personal way.
The partnership held particular significance for Royal Windsor Horse Show, whose connection with the Armed Forces has been part of its identity since the Show was first staged in 1943 to raise funds for the War effort. Ahead of the Show, Royal Windsor Horse Show worked closely with Warrior Equine to raise awareness of the charity’s work through behind-the-scenes media activity in Windsor. The activity brought together the Show’s military heritage and the role horses continue to play beyond the competition arena, from ceremonial tradition to supporting recovery, confidence, and well-being.
Throughout the Show, Warrior Equine was given a platform to share its story with visitors, competitors, and supporters, helping to shine a spotlight on the life-changing role horses can play in supporting those who have served their country and communities.
Ele Milwright, CEO Warrior Equine, commented: “Partnering with Royal Windsor Horse Show, one of the UK’s most prestigious and iconic equestrian events, has been an exceptionally rewarding experience for us. It has given us a remarkable platform to share our story with an incredibly supportive audience, united in their passion for horses and deep respect for our Armed Forces and Emergency Services. The opportunity to connect with people far beyond the showground, across the UK, and around the world has nothing short of extraordinary,” adding, “Our thanks to Simon Brooks-Ward and his fantastic team at RWHS for their belief in Warrior Equine and supporting us in such a meaningful way.”
Royal Windsor Horse Show will return to the private grounds of Windsor Castle from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 May 2027, continuing its celebration of equestrian sport, heritage, and tradition in one of the UK’s most iconic settings.
